Big 12-2 win as Randleman Heads 1 step closer to Title Town!!!
Posted on May 18, 2012 at 9:53 PM by Morgan Frazier
Randleman Wins big over Wilkes Central 12-2 in only 5 innings which is a big boost to saving picthing as well as getting by a team that is very offensive minded. Coach Hurley said, "we knew their strong point was hitting and that they struggled some on the mound. So we were able to get up early it was a very good for us and we just wanted to keep it on them. We bunted late in the game to conserve pitching, anytime you can get off the field early you better do it against a team that can hit. It was Cody Trogdon's first playoff start and he did a great job and he was also able to get us going with the bat." Cody got the win on the mound and had 2 hits and the first 3 RBIs of the game. "We were able to get it to Dylan (Richardson who has been our 2-3 inning guy all year and we like what he does in that role."
Trogdon picked up the win tonight and said, "Before the game I was a not nervous but then when I got out there I did get a little nervous. Usually I do not hit as well when I am pitching but I felt good at the plate and i just hit. Cody a Junior pitcher is a big part of what Randleman does well...Win.

AHS High School Falls to South Rowan 7-5 and ends Season
Posted on May 16, 2012 at 8:27 AM by Morgan Frazier
Asheboro High School
It was not a good scene after Asheboro lost to South Rowan in the second round of the state playoffs. With a senior heavy team, who have all played a lot of baseball and a lot of sports together will be moving on, to other things. It is never a good feeling knowing you may have played your last game in high school. This team has also battled injury, much like their coach, they have stuck it out. AHS battled to the very in and made a big run in the last inning with 2 outs to get with in one swing of winning the game. Coach Tim Murray, "We just dug too big of a hole early, and did too little too late to get out of it. It is always good to make a late run it shows what kind of kids I have on this team. We also had some issues on the mound as we allowed 4 hit batters, and 8 walks, that is 12 free passes."

Cubs becoming Cougars......
The Lady Cougars of Southwestern Randolph were the host team to South Vance in their state playoff game Tuesday night but, were playing on someone else's home field. Due to weather the Southwestern Randolph field was not in playable condition therefore the game was moved to Pugh field in Asheboro.
This move didn't seem to have any effect on the cougars. Starting four freshman the Cougars are a young but talented team that have seemed to get "hot" as of late. Bridgette Smith one of ... (read more)

Asheboro's second round playoff game ended in a loss to the Knighthawks of Northern Guilford 8-5. Yes, you read that score right, one might think of it as more of a baseball score but it was the most points scored on Asheboro in a long time and the first time to my knowledge that the Asheboro girls scored 5 goals or least put 5 up in a while themselves.
