Cougars top Warriors at home

Defense was the story in the early part of the first half as both teams had trouble finding the back of the net. Joshua Mendoza did an excellent job in goal for the Cougars during the first half, while Jake Clodfelter helped the Warriors keep the Cougars from taking a big lead. Southwestern Randolph was the one to break the scoreless streak as Andy Garcia put one into the back of the off an assist from Owen York at the 15:13 mark of the half. The Cougars waited just five minutes before pushing their lead to two goals off a score from Kevin Ortiz. Fernando Castro assisted on the goal. The final ten minutes of play would go by without a score from either team. At the half, Southwestern Randolph led 2-0.

Southwestern Randolph wasted no time putting their third goal on the board early in the second half off the score from Ortiz. The Warriors finally broke through ten minutes later with their first goal of the night. The Cougars continued to push the ball up the field and found the back of the net for the fourth time. This time Houston Martin scored off an assist from Ortiz to put the Cougars up 4-1. Wheatmore would hold the Cougars scoreless for the next eight minutes until Martin found an opening for his second goal of the half. The Cougars took a 5-1 lead and let their defense handle things the rest of the way. Southwestern Randolph got the win 5-1.
