Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Brecken Snotherly

Randolph County girls’ basketball has been taken over by some talented freshmen this season giving the sport a very bright future. One freshman has been a consistent contributor all season and has her team poised to make a run in the postseason. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Eastern Randolph’s, Brecken Snotherly.

Snotherly, a freshman guard, has been an outstanding middle school player the last couple of years and she has only improved her game during her first season as an Eastern Randolph Wildcat. This past week she averaged 16.6 points over the course of three games for the Wildcats. On Tuesday in a loss to Randleman, she finished with 14 points, ten rebounds, and six assists. One night later she poured in 21 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in a one-point win over the Wheatmore Warriors. She helped the Wildcats close out the regular season with a win over Trinity on Friday where she finished with 15 points in a blow victory.

On the season she is averaging 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. She made a statement early in the season when she scored a career-high 35 points against Trinity in the annual county Christmas tournament. Her 35 points were good enough to land her a spot on the All-Tournament team and in the tournament record books. Snotherly will only continue to get better as her high school career progress and the Wildcat faithful with have a lot to cheer for in the coming years.
