With football season winding down, conference championships and a spot in the playoffs are on the line. One game this week featured two undefeated conference teams vying for the conference championship and one player who put on a show to help his team win. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Randleman’s, Na’hiem Lilly.

Lilly, a sophomore running back, has had a strong season for the Tigers and is a key reason they are still undefeated. The Tigers faced their toughest test of the season on Friday against Eastern Randolph and Lilly came up big in the 35-28 win. He scored the Tigers’ first touchdown of the night before giving them their first lead of the night early in the third quarter. He scored three touchdowns in total, but it was his ability to run the ball and find openings that helped the Tigers to the win. He took the handoff on several occasions including several plays in a row. He converted on multiple third downs to keep a drive alive for the Tigers. He finished the night with 207 rushing yards on 31 carries with many of his runs picking up ten or more yards. He capped off the Tigers’ comeback win with the final touchdown of the night to break a 28-28 tie.

Friday night’s game was Lilly’s fourth with 200 plus rushing yards and his tenth with over 110 rushing yards. So far this season, he has rushed for over 1,700 yards, scored 24 touchdowns, is averaging 9.7 yards per carry and 171.1 rushing yards per game. He has scored at least one touchdown in every game this season with a game-high of four touchdowns to open the season against Asheboro. The Tigers will likely get a high seed in the playoffs and Lilly will need to continue his strong play as they move deeper into the playoffs.

Congratulations to Na’hiem Lilly on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
