Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” Nate Green

Stephanie King

On any given night players can step up to give their team a spark or fill a void. On Friday night, one athlete stepped up as his team cruised to a first-round playoff win on their home field. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week” is Randleman’s, Nate Green.

Green, a senior running back and middle linebacker, has been a key role player for the Tigers all season. He has done a lot of the small things that have helped make this Randleman team so successful this season. He has stepped up on offense when the Tigers needed him and has been consistent on defense throughout the season. This past Friday, he got a chance to shine in the Tigers’ 42-0 first-round playoff win over Morehead scoring two rushing touchdowns (one a three-yard run and the other on a 26-yard run). He finished the night with 33 rushing yards on three carries but his biggest impact came on the defensive side of the ball where he has been crucial all season. He finished with two solo tackles, five assisted tackles, one sack, and one tackle for a loss. His pressure on the Morehead defense helped take the Panthers out of the game early. He has 68 total tackles on the season and looks to add to those numbers as the Tigers gear up for their second-round match-up this coming Friday. The Tigers will need him to bring the same pressure and intensity he had this past Friday to better their chances against East Duplin.

Congratulations to Nate Green on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athlete of the Week!”
