As the final week of the regular season played out, teams across the county were looking for one more win to boost their playoff resumes. One team relied on their seniors to close out the regular season with a win and secure a spot in the state playoffs. Two of the team’s seniors had stellar nights in the win and deserve to be recognized. This week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week” are Eastern Randolph’s, Cade Snotherly and Tavis McAdoo.

Snotherly, a senior quarterback, has led the Wildcats’ offense all season and capped off the regular season with a strong performance over the Trinity Bulldogs. In the 62-0 win over the Bulldogs, Snotherly threw four touchdowns and finished the night with 164 passing yards. He has thrown the ball well all season and his 164-yards on Friday pushed him over the 2,000-yard mark for the season. He will have a chance to add to that total when the Wildcats take the field on Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. No matter their opponent, the Wildcats will need Snotherly to throw the ball well if they hope to advance deep into the postseason.

McAdoo, a senior running back, led the running game for the Wildcats on Friday scoring three touchdowns in the 62-0 in. His first two runs of the night helped him eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the season and he did not stop there. He scored twice in the first quarter to put the Wildcats in front 28-0 before adding a 96-yard touchdown run in the second quarter for his final touchdown of the game. McAdoo finished with game with 190 rushing yards on just six carries. His quickest and ability to explode through the defense will be key as the Wildcats gear up for the postseason.

With Snotherly and McAdoo leading the offense, the Wildcats have put themselves in a great position to have a strong run in the postseason. Congratulations to both Cade Snotherly and Tavis McAdoo on being named this week’s Mid-State Toyota “Athletes of the Week!”
