PG hires new basketball coaches

There will be two new faces on the sidelines for Providence Grove basketball next season. Both the men’s and women’s head coaches stepped down this offseason leaving the Patriots to find replacements.

Wes Luther will take over as the men’s head basketball coach after spending the last few seasons as an assistant and jayvee coach at Asheboro High School. Athletic Director Calvin Brown was confident in the hiring of Luther saying, “Wes will bring a great amount of energy to our program and be able to build relationships with our team and community.”

As for the women’s program, former Patriot Erin Mixon Sikes will take over the reins for the Lady Patriots. Sikes is a 2010 graduate of Providence Grove and a member of the varsity women’s basketball team. Athletic Director Brown praised Sikes’ passion for Providence Grove and her vision to see the young ladies in the women’s basketball program be successful.

Patriot fans will have to wait a few more months to see how these coaching changes impact Providence Grove basketball.
