Randleman gets a clean sweep

Wednesday night the Randleman Tigers hosted the Asheboro Blue Comets for a match-up in volleyball. 

In the first set, the Tigers jumped out to an early 10-4 lead. The Comets scored three straight points to close the gap to three. Randleman kept pushing as they took a 14-8 lead, but an ace from Leah Reid helped the Comets battle back into the game. A kill from Ceci Carter and a back-row attack from Hannah Hinshaw gave the Tigers a seven-point lead. Slamming the ball down for the Comets was Diamond McDowell. Randleman pulled ahead 21-14 as Carter piped the ball. A serving error on the Tigers gave the Comets to 16 points. Reid finished out the set for Asheboro as they finished with 17 points. Randleman took the first set 25-17. 

Opening the second set were the Tigers. Asheboro put their first point on the board. Asheboro kept the momentum going as they took a 4-2 lead. Both teams kept the game close as they went back and forth. A kill from Diamond McDowell put the Comets up 7-4. Back to back kills from Kylie Vaughan and Carter gave the Tigers 7 points. The Comets went on a 4-0 scoring run as McDowell picked up a block. Randleman came back as Vaughan, Carter, and Lindsay Peele all slammed hits. A block from Reid gave Asheboro 17 points. Randleman battled back with an 8-0 run. Peele sent a kill over the net and served an ace as Randleman took a 25-17 set two win.

Serving an ace to start set three was Reid.  Randleman was able to dominate set three as they took a 12-1 lead. Carter had three kills and a tip, while Sophie Macon also picked up a kill. A serving error on the Tigers gave the Comets a free point. A tip from Reagan White allowed the Comets three back to back points. Randleman was able to pull ahead 18-12. A tip from Reid and kill from McDowell allowed the Comets to cut the lead to three. Standing tall for a block was Carter, while MacKenzie Green served an ace for Randleman. Back to back kills from McDowell finished out the Comets with 19 points. The Tigers held the Comets as they took the third set 25-19.
