Tigers top Comets in three

Middle School softball action came to RMS on Tuesday as the Lady Tigers hosted the NAMS Lady Comets.

Jamaia Henderson led things off for the Comets with a walk to put a runner on base. Vicky Meza picked up a base hit and Henderson scored when a throw to second was overthrown. Megan Prochnau drew a walk to add a second base runner before the Tigers picked up out number one. The Tigers got out number two on a throw to first, but Meza was able to score to give the Comets a 2-0 lead. RMS finished out the inning with a strikeout.

The Tigers went to work in the bottom of the inning putting 11 runs on the board. Katie Green and Kinley Robinson drew back to back walks before scoring on a wild pitch to tie the game at two runs apiece. Scott and Hinshaw picked up walks before Scott scored on a wild pitch to give the Tigers the lead. Two more walks loaded the bases for the Tigers before a base hit from Chriscoe scored Hinshaw. RMS continued to roll as they drew six more walks and picked up two more base hits. After one inning of play, RMS led 11-2.

NAMS opened the top of the second with back to back walks from Alexa Cambrow and Deleon. RMS stepped up their defense picking up three straight outs and leaving both runners stranded. In the bottom of the inning, the Tigers quickly loaded the bases with three straight walks from Chriscoe, Roach, and Daphne Trout. Chriscoe scored on a wild pitch before Roman walked to reload the bases. Robinson stepped to the plate for an infield grand slam to put four more runs on the board. NAMS picked up out number one before a home run from Deloatch brought in two more runs. The Comets ended the inning with back to back outs. After two complete innings, RMS led 17-2.

The Comets put two runners on base right away with back to back walks. RMS stood strong on defense turning a triple play to end the game. The Tigers picked off Abby Pearce at first after a hit before tagging Prochnau at home for out number two. The Tigers finished the inning by picking off Tatiana Anderson at third. RMS picked up the win 17-2.
