Warriors edge out Tigers

PAC-7 soccer action came to Randleman on Monday as the Tigers hosted the Wheatmore Warriors. Randleman entered the game still searching for their first win of the season at 0-6, while Wheatmore was 3-2.

The Tigers got the first touch on the ball, but the Warriors stepped to the ball to make the first eight minutes of play a defensive battled. Randleman broke through the Warrior defense at the 32:06 mark with a goal from Stuart Perez off an assist from Jairo Chavez. The Tigers held their for the next ten minutes and stepped up their defense to keep the Warriors scoreless. Wheatmore was able to tie the game at one goal each at the 20:28 mark on a goal from Ryan Smith. Neither team could score during the next eighteen minutes and look as though the half would end in a tie. However, Seth Miller received a perfect pass and sent the ball into the back of the net with just over two minutes left to play in the half. Randleman could not answer before the end of the half. At halftime, Wheatmore led 2-1.

The second half of play was all defense as both teams played well and kept the other from scoring. Both teams had several great looks at the goal, but the keepers were locked in and blocked everything that came their way. Wheatmore would hold onto their 2-1 lead and pick up the win.
